My First Blog Post

I started this Blog as an online diary to anonymously document my journey to achieving financial freedom. Or as the term has been coined in the media, achieving financial independence retire early (FIRE).

The reason why I have intentionally decided to remain anonymous is because this is not typically a subject that people feel comfortable discussing. Speaking about debt, low incomes/ revenues or the aspiration of retiring early, let alone retiring.

To give you some background, I am 25 year old British female. Currently working in corporate (sounds more glamourous than it is). I come from a glorified working class background struggling to appear middle class. I grew up with immigrant parents, with high aspirations. Who failed and succeeded at establishing financial roots in the UK. My parents instilled in me the importance of hard work and being able to manage money. However, they never led by example ( the money management bit)…

Years passed, and here I am. I have managed to adopt the hand to mouth mentality, spending money as soon as I get it and enjoying the frill of credit based purchases and only paying the minimum balance.

It’s kind of embarrassing now. I want to use 2020 to clear all my accrued debt, grow my savings and learn to strategically invest. All whilst growing my financial literacy

There is so much to unfold this year and I am truly excited about what 2020 has to offer. I look forward to sharing my progress on this journey, including the highs and the lows. Please come along for the ride, comment and share your thoughts. Tbh, if I were you, I’d hold off on committing to the blog, let’s see if there’s some consistency first.
